Te fu is caused by infuenza (fu) viruses. It usually causes
mild to severe illness, and you can catch it easily. Te best way
to prevent the fu is to get a fu shot every year.
Flu shots don’t cause the flu
Tey can help your body fght the fu if you’re exposed to
it. Every year there is a different strain of fu. So every year,
anyone 6 months and older should get a fu shot. If you have
questions about whether you should get one, speak to your
PMP or doctor.
How to help prevent the spread of flu
Avoid close contact with people who are sick
.
Stay home if you’re sick
. Take care of yourself by getting plenty
of sleep, drinking plenty of fuids and eating healthy food.
Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing
.
Cough or sneeze into a tissue or the inside of your elbow.
Wash your hands often with soap and water or alcohol-
based hand sanitizers
. Tink of germs spreading like wet
paint on your hands. Be careful not to touch your eyes, nose
and mouth.
