If you are a parent, caregiver or
guardian of children in the Hoosier
Healthwise program, you might be
able to apply for HIP. The Healthy
Indiana Plan (HIP) is one of our
health plans sponsored by the
state of Indiana.
HIP is an affordable health care
program for adult Hoosiers
between the ages of 19 and 64
who don’t have health coverage.
The program offers full health
care coverage, including hospital
and doctor visits, mental health
services, and prescription drugs.

When PMPs in the Hoosier Healthwise plan and Healthy
Indiana Plan meet health care goals set by the Indiana Ofce
of Medical Policy and Planning for 2011, we pay these
doctors a bonus that is set by the state. For 2011, a few of the
goals are to:
•
Fill more generic drug prescriptions, when appropriate.
Generic drugs are drugs that the FDA decides are equal
to brand-name drugs. Tey are not made or sold under a
registered trade name or trademark. As a result, they often
cost much less than a brand-name drug.
•
Have new members visit the PMP within 90 days of
enrolling. To get the best possible care, members need to
see the PMP early on.
•
Have more members get checkups and preventive care,
especially during and after pregnancy, and as young
children and teens.
•
Have more members get certain tests and care for long-
term health issues such as asthma, diabetes and more.
